We recently moved a customer who packed a suitcase for each family member. They just packed as if they were going on holiday! You know, a change of clothes, toothbrush, eyeglasses, comb, shampoo, toothpaste, medication, that sort of thing. This is a great idea and will save a lot of time and effort.
Another thing to do, is to prepare boxes for each room that can be opened first and label them – “open first”. Put the things you will need immediately after you move, like towels, sheets, saucepans, knives and forks. Always remember to pack one room after another. As we have mentioned before, do not mix things from different rooms in the same box. That can confuse matters when unpacking. If you dismantle anything, keeping all the screws together in a safe place is very important. It is a good idea to tape or attach them to whatever it is you’re pulling apart.
Make sure every box is labelled. Then you will know exactly what is in it. You can put together an inventory list and put down what came in each box from where and you can also begin with the room name and the number of the box – like “KITCHEN 1.” for example.
