The Love Abridged project is three outdoor events happening in various parts of London during February. Pianist and composer Trevor Watkis is hoping to make jazz more appealing to younger audience. The collaboration  is with musicians, vocalist Savannah Dumetz, Mark Kavuma on the trumpet, guitarist Mansur Brown, and Andrew Robb on double bass.

In order to capture the attention of the younger generation, they have taken eight popular songs, including hits by Adele, Coldplay and Jill Scott, and turned them into contemporary jazz compositions.

The concerts are happening outside Victoria Embankment Gardens, at The Golden Hinde, and at the Thames Cable Car Terminal in Greenwich.

Mr Watkis said “It’s great to work with talented, young, up and coming artists wanting to embrace jazz, a genre which often gets labelled as older folks’ music.”

The project is funded by the Arts Council England and supported by non-profit organisation Small Green Shoots, Greenwich Council, and Transport for London.
