Man and Vans have decided to use the Google Checkout and Google Base services to try and promote the direct retail of the new packaging materials that they are providing. Company Director Robert Innes said “We saw a gap in the market for packaging. There is nowhere on the web at the moment where customers can directly purchase boxes and bubble wrap at the push of a button. The vast majority of companies that sell packaging materials at the moment concentrate on wholesale. We are looking to make things easier for the consumer.”
At this stage the company is concentrating on basic packaging requirements by providing various sizes of cardboard boxes, wardrobe boxes, bubble wrap and tape. If the packaging section of the website is successful, Man and Vans plan to create a new website that concentrates solely on catering to the packaging needs of consumers in London. This website will offer more specific types of packaging that consumers require, such as furniture covers and tea chests.
Man and Vans are seeing this development as part of an ongoing process of upgrading the service. Robert Innes elaborated “During this period of economic downturn, consumers are looking to company to offer more than just the basic removals service. We are looking to add to our repertoire in order to provide our customers with the complete removals service. We are currently working on providing storage, packing services and house clearances. By doing this we are hoping to maintain our reputation at the premier Man with a van service in London.”
