Now a lot of people think of Derek ‘Del Boy’ Trotter and Rodney when Peckham’s first mentioned, the cheeky wideboys from the very popular sitcom ‘Only Fools and Horses’. The programme became quite the British establishment on television and actually holds the record for the highest viewing figures for a sitcom episode, with the 1996 episode ‘Time on Our Hands’ garnering over 25 million viewers! But it does show quite a skewed view of what Peckham is like, it follows their attempts to get rich in a series of slightly dodgy deals and business ideas. The show also gave the Reliant Robin van a nice publicity boost! A van that unfortunately (or is that fortunately?) we don’t use on our jobs.
Recently, Peckham has had quite a revival! With trendy bars, clubs and gastro pubs springing up all over the place. And we’re happy to say that Man and Van South London has given a hand to some new businesses springing up around Peckham.
