Not much to move? Try a Man and Van instead
Man and Vans has some useful advice for you, if you’re looking to save a little next time you move.
First of all, if you cannot afford an expensive removal company, try to pack everything you can yourself. This will save you a lot of money, but be aware. Many companies and man and vans insurance cover may not apply when you pack yourself. So, check with your company how that will work. You will most likely find they will only insure the items that they have packed. Leaving anything you have packed, uninsured.
If you decide to pack your belongings yourself, you can use cheaper packing materials, instead of buying expensive ones. For example, newspaper and magazines make for great wrapping of glassware and crockery in the kitchen. You can also use cushions, clothes and towels to secure you items in the box.
If you need tools, like screwdrivers, maybe a drill or even just a tape dispenser. Try to borrow them rather than buying. There is always someone’s Dad who has an old toolbox laying around that will more than do the job.
Have a good long look everything you own. There is bound to be something you do not need or want. Maybe you have some furniture, kitchenware or even old clothing that you can get rid of before moving. Sites like eBay and Gumtree are quite useful and you might even make a little extra cash.
Man and Vans is here to help you as much as possible and hopefully, we can save you money while doing it.
