Top 5 Things Individuals Forget To Do When Moving House

You’re pressed for time, you haven’t started packing and you still don’t quite know how you’re going to move everything from A to B.

Sound familiar? Perhaps you’re about to move to a new house or you know of a friend going through the troubles of shifting. If you’ve relocated before or have spoken to anyone who has moved houses, the sheer thought of what you’re about to get yourself into may send stress migraines straight to through your head.

Luckily, we’re here to help. Man and Vans have been around for over 10 years in the removal industry and no matter how prepared you think you might be, we bet there’s at least one thing you haven’t already checked off on our list of things to remember when moving.

Get Boxes:

We can’t stress this enough. Getting and building boxes before your move is essential! The last thing you want to do a day or two before is run around asking supermarkets for torn and worn boxes. Building a box isn’t as quick as you think either, so if you already have your supply, we suggest that you start folding and preparing your boxes in advance.

Leave your essentials for last:

Your everyday cosmetics and daily essentials should be packed last so that they can all be put away and labelled in one easily accessible box. Imagine the annoyance of having to rummage and rip through towers of boxes just to find your toothbrush.

Secure your Furniture:

It may seem like common sense to bubble wrap your furniture, but common sense isn’t always so common. If you haven’t taken the necessary precautions to protect your valuables, any bump on the road or accidental drop could easily cause irreparable damage to your goods. Bubble wrap your furniture and crockery paying close attention to the corners. A fragile label is always appreciated so that whoever sees it can know to take care when handling.

Tape, tape, tape:

Stock up on your tape, you will need it to build secure boxes and seal them off as well as to secure bubble wrap. A major setback when you’re in the packing zone is to run out of tape. You rather have too much than too little so don’t skimp on this one and remember not to pack it up in the boxes!

Get strength!:

Everyone loves to offer a helping hand when moving but remember, not all hands are helpful. You know exactly how and where to pack your belongings so rather than getting 10 extra hands to fiddle and faff, ask for strength. You’re going to need strong arms to help carry the box of all your shoes and unless you’re Zeus himself, that fridge of yours is not a one-man job.

We’re here to help. A strong man with a van is just what you need when moving (or maybe its two men and a van!) From packaging essentials that include, boxes, tape, bubble wrap and even mattress covers (bet you didn’t think of that one!) to strong arms and spacious vans. Man and Vans offer the best removal service in London. We’ve moved stone baths down flights of stairs, cats in cradles and entire offices. No move is too big or too small for us to handle. So why not hand over the stress and let us move your house to your new home.
